I am honored to be a part of a great group of photographers in my area. When one of them suggested starting a blog circle for – letters to our children – I jumped on. I love the letters that I have seen and the idea of a blog circle with these ladies.

Jack and Fi –
I can’t believe we are already to mid February. I know I probably say those words “I can’t believe” all to often but really I just can’t. It is mind boggling to me to know that you two are getting so grown up so quickly. Right now you are 11 and 6. Y’all have had a great start to the year. You both excel at school. You both are in sports that you like (or at least mostly like).
Jack… twice since the new year started I have had two teachers in your school (who are not your teachers) stop me in the hall to tell what a wonderful young man you are. The first told me of a story of y’all walking in the hallway and you picking up a piece of trash and throwing it away. No one told you to and you didn’t say hey look I just did something good. In a world of ‘look at me doing the right thing I should get a prize” there you were a light shining in the school of doing the right thing because it is right. We try to teach you that but you never really know if it goes into y’alls heads. The second, and more recent, told of what a good person you are. I joke with y’all a lot about being a ‘nice human’. But kid, you just don’t realize that people notice it. People notice when you are being a nice human and when you are faking being a nice human when someone is watching. I am so proud of you!
Fi… girl you are on fire! You are about to turn 7. I don’t even know how to type that. You are smarter than most people I know. You have empathy and a kindness that is uncanny. And you get life… I mean you really get it. In the past month you have learned to ride your bike without training wheels and lost your top front tooth! That second one should be coming out any minute now!! I am not going to write much about who you are as a person right now because next month, your birthday month, I know I will gush. I just always want you to know that I love you!!
