Establishing Your Everyday Frame: What lens do I use?
How do you know which lens to use when starting to document your everyday frame?
.
What lens do I use? This is one of the top questions I hear (or see online) when people start establishing your everyday frame. What is an everyday frame? It is a little piece of time stopped from your everyday. Everyday is you being you. And your kids being them. It is also not worrying about the mess of the everyday house, or not having a pinterest worthy kitchen. Y’all I love our house but it is not exactly pinterest worthy. Thankfully it is full of love and happiness which pretty much trumps pinterest worthy any day.
.
So how do you capture it with your camera? How do you know what lens to buy or to use? That is what this post is for. It is for you to start learning about lenses. So first off, say you are wanting to document your everyday frame. First you need a wide angle lens. What is a wide angle lens? a worry when using a wide angle lens… DISTORTION
What is distortion? The easy and quick way to understand it is when what should be straight lines are curved.
.
A wide angle lens that I would recommend starting with is the 35mm. It has minimal distortion. It can capture the scene. When documenting your everyday, you want to tell a story with the scene.
.
If you need a wider view check out the 24mm. It is a good bit wider than the 35. Sometimes I think it can be a little too wide, but it is a great lens.
.
Another fun lens to use is a fisheye. Below I used the Sigma 15mm fisheye lens.
