Mothers.

I have been a mother for over 10 years now. My Jack turned 10 this past December and it really has me thinking of how fast time goes by. In the beginning it seems to drag on. The early days with babies that turn into day/night combinations could make a person go crazy. But then one day you will be looking back at your 10 year old son and wonder where the time went? My baby is now past the ‘little’ age. She is 6. She told me that she is not longer little because you have to be 5 to be little. (And in her words now she is old because she has to use two hands 😉 ) In the past few years that I have been in love with photography I have made it a point to have family pictures made at least yearly. Even if it is me setting up the old tripod and running into position, we will have a photograph. But one that that rarely happens is a photograph of me with them alone. See when you are the picture taker you are hardly ever IN the picture. Scott is. He has a huge folder of pictures with him and the kiddos. Luckily on our last road trip our wonderful friend was able to take a few family snapshots of us at some of the cool places we went. I won’t hand my camera to just anyone. .

So yesterday I had a plan. Scott was at work so I was going to take a photograph of me and my kids. I picked a day he was at work so if it turned out awful he would never make me look at it. Is there anyone out there like me? I really don’t like the way I look on camera. I know that everything is under my control. I need to make the time to eat better and work out. I am almost 1 year into this as a full time business and to say that it hasn’t been rough would be a lie. But finally the routine is happening, the calm comes more often that the crazy, and it is time to do something about it. But I choose not to wait to take my photographs with my kiddos. I choose to exist in photographs for them.

.

But life seems to know how to get in the way. We were under a tornado warning and I just couldn’t do it. So this morning, before they went to school I sat them in the chair in the living room and set the camera to just take our photograph. I am in love!

.

That is my challenge to you. All of the mothers out there. All of the grandmothers. All of the dads. All of the granddads. Will you exist in photographs for your children?

.

As part of this challenge I am opening up a mini session to any mom, dad, or even grandparent who chooses to exist in photographs for their children.

.

If you are interested in one of these sessions. They can take place at your home or on location or in my small studio space. The cost is $100 for your 20 minute session. You will also receive 5 digital images and 1 gift print of your choice.

.

I will be booking these sessions limited edition sessions until July 1st only!

.

This is not for family photographs, but Mom and Dad can share a shoot but will be with their kiddos alone 🙂
