Today’s I wanted to share what some of my favorite lenses of today are. As a photographer with each new year that passes by our gear changes, grows, expands, and sometimes decreases. I have a laundry list of lenses that I would LOVE to have. But as a we all know that if you get everything too soon you really won’t ever learn to use what you have and make it work. I am a firm believer in learning to use a piece of equipment to it’s fullest before upgrading.
(That is unless a piece is broken and needs replacement asap.)

These are my most used lenses today.

The Pancake. The 40mm 2.8.
I love this little lens. It is fast, small, and a great length. I have this lens on the camera if we go out somewhere and I want to take photos of what is going on around us. It is great for street photography or just the everyday.

The 50mm.
I recently upgraded to the 50mm 1.4 from the 50mm 1.8 (the nifty fifty).
At first I was a bit hesitant to upgrade because I loved the 40. But I do have to say I really love how open this lens can get. It does work some magic.

The 24-70. My workhorse.
I use this lens at least once on every photoshoot. I love this lens. It has the best use out of all of my lenses. It is quick, has a great size and since the day I put it on my camera it hardly comes off. I love this lens. I will be upgrading to the II when the time is right.

The 70-200.
She is a beauty. I don’t use it as much as the 24-70 but she is a valuable lens. You can’t compete with the amazing compression this lens can give. It rocks.
