Today I want to share a simple way to take photographs in bluebonnets without hurting the bluebonnets!!!!
.
If you are from Texas you have most likely either seen bluebonnet photographs or taken a photograph with our wonderful state flower. So many people flock to the sides of the highways (very dangerous by the way!!!) or to wonderful kid friendly spots to take these timeless photographs. Unfortunately some people will run through them, stomp on the plants, or pick them. I wanted to share how easy it is to photograph in bluebonnets without stomping on plants or even smooshing plants.
.
And even though it is not illegal to pick bluebonnets but it is not very nice!! Please don’t pick them!! If you pick them the plants won’t be able to seed.
.
This is what a bluebonnet plant looks like. And then you can see the early stages of bloom. The plants below are very early in bloom.

So below is where I sat Fi. It was easy for her to walk where there were not plants to get to the small opening. I found an equal opening just a little way in front of her and kneeled down. No plants hurt, no plants squished, no plants picked.

Here is a tiny patch of bluebonnets. You don’t need a huge field. A small patch can be just as beautiful.

I told her to lay on her tummy here. And then she rolled over to her back. See, it is simple!

Here is a little bit bigger field. From the top it looks a little sparse but when she sits and I position my self in a nook between plants… beautiful. No plants harmed in the process.

It isn’t hard to keep the state flower safe from trampling. I hope everyone has a wonderful time this year in the bluebonnets. Please don’t stomp them or let your kiddos stomp on them. Be kind. And if you are looking check out my mini’s. That way you get to sit back and relax 🙂

One more thing… BEWARE OF SNAKES!! You are outside, there could be snakes, ants, or any other animals in the field. I like to look around but you don’t always see them. Just keep an eye out.

Here are some outtakes from our fun in the field before the rain came tonight!
