I knew when we had Jack that I wanted to make sure he knew how to swim. He started swim lessons at two or three. After his first set of 3 week lessons when he was five he asked to keep taking them. I knew he liked it.
When he was 7 we took him to the local swim team to try it out. Luckily one of my very favorite friends from high school was the coach. It is now a summer tradition. Sophie was introduced to the pool way earlier than Jack. She was 15 months when she took her first mommy and me swim class 😉

I am so very proud to be a swim parent with our local swim team. Our kiddos have such big hearts and work so hard. Most of our kids don’t see the water again until they try out for the team in late April or May, then don’t see the water again until the first day of summer swim in June. This year Sophie learned to swim. The first week of lessons she cried. Every day. I know the new parents thought I must be a crazy person for letting her cry.(Seriously though the kid can swim the length of our little summer pool in the back yard with no trouble at all!) And then one day her most amazing coach said to watch. And there she was my little girl swimming the whole length of the pool with no help only encouragement 🙂
I often say that I am blessed by the people that my children are surrounded by. It is true, we are so very blessed. We were blessed this year with not only two amazing coaches, but two great young adult coaches who not only are great with the kids in the water but are good people. And let me not forget to mention how much I love the two soon to be high school and junior high girls who have helped my Sophie swim ALL SUMMER! I can’t thank them enough for their awesomeness!

Here are a few random glimpses into our summer at the pool. We started at 7:30 every morning and stayed until after 10:00 everyday. My kiddos never complained once!
