Tips to prepare for your Newborn Session

.

Newborn photography is a beautiful art. Obviously I love it, but at a time when your life has completely changed, it can be a tiny bit overwhelming. So I wanted to share a little bit of information with y’all. A few tips of what to bring to your newborn session. Most newborn photographers have a variety of props, blanket drops, floors, and headbands. But there are times when bringing in something special can really personalize your session. Also being prepared for your session will help you relax. And a relaxed momma, makes for a relaxed baby.

.

1. Bring Plenty of Diapers and Formula

My babies tend to be naked most of the session, but there are times that we will leave a loose diaper on just in case they need it. I have diapers on hand but if your sweet little one uses a particular brand or type of diaper, it is best to bring a few extra. This also goes with wipes. I keep sensitive baby wipes and water wipes on hand for my sessions. If you are not nursing please bring extra formula. Being in front of the camera sometimes makes little ones extra hungry.

.

2. Comfy clothing and Snacks

If you are doing parents or sibling shots, it is best to bring something comfy to wear after your session. My sessions last anywhere between 3-4 hours. This is typical for posed newborn photographer in the Dallas area. I want to give your sweet newborn the attention they deserve. I will never rush a baby to fall asleep. I also hope that my parents are comfortable enough during my sessions. There will be poop, and they usually pee on me at least once (sometimes a lot more). But I want my babies to comfortable! Also you will be here for a while, if you would like to have some snacks please feel free! I have some snacks available but I know how we all have favorite foods and snack foods.

.

3. Special Items to You!

Some parents have very special items that they would like photographed with their new little ones. Whether it is a theme that goes along with their rooms, like below baby J’s mom brought in this beautiful boat for his session. Or an extra special session below 🙂 Can you guess what that is with sweet baby S?
I have a multitude of blanket drops, wraps, headbands, a few sports items, baskets and buckets. But if there is something that is special to you and your family please don’t hesitate to bring it.

I recommend parent to choose one favorite item or theme to add on to their newborn session.
