My Last Quiet August

at least for a little while

Typically in August my little family takes our vacation. These vacation are something I look forward to all year long. I love being with my family. I love going to new places. I love traveling and seeing new things. With Jack being in band, this will be our last August vacation, at least for 4 years. Next summer he will start band camp when we typically escape the heat in Dallas. I love that he is enjoying middle school and loving band. As a former band person I know all to well how much I loved band.

This year was a little different. They had a ‘small’ band camp when we first leave for vacation. So this year we split it up a bit. Sophie and I along with my mom travelled to Maryland. And y’all this was my first long drive on my own. And it wasn’t too bad. Only a few extra stops and one flat tire. I thought I would be more nervous about traveling pretty much alone with Sophie while we were in town. She really only had three things she wanted to see. The zoo, the art gallery, and the awakening statue. We are blessed to be able to visit Washington, D.C. often so we don’t have to cram in as much as we can. We can take it easy.
