This workshop is designed for photographers who want to elevate their school sports portraits with bold, modern lighting techniques. Whether you are a beginner or simply looking to expand your creative toolkit, this class provides a clear, approachable path to creating high-impact images that stand out.
Participants will learn how to build a variety of sports portrait looks using both simple and advanced lighting setups. We will explore the use of gels, fog, and water effects to create dramatic atmosphere, along with safe and practical ways to incorporate these elements indoors. The class will start with single-light portraits and gradually progress to multiple-light setups, making each step easy to follow and apply.
Throughout the workshop, attendees will receive hands-on instruction in posing student athletes, managing light in challenging spaces like gymnasiums, and developing repeatable workflows that work on game days, media days, and school campus events. All concepts will be demonstrated using equipment accessible to most photographers, ensuring that participants can confidently recreate these looks on their own.
By the end of the workshop, each participant will leave with the ability to create creative sports portraits and the knowledge needed to produce dynamic, impactful images for schools, teams, and athletic programs.
