Welcome 2018!

Welcome 2018!

New Year and a Fresh Start.

New Year brings a wash of cleansing magic to it. Ok, so that isn’t true but sometimes it feels like it. This year I would like to be intentional about starting something new at any time. Not only on Mondays, or in the mornings, or waiting until New Year or even the start of the next month. I want to start where I am. This year I have many goals that I have been writing down. I am a writer. Actually, I would say a documenter. I love to document moments, ideas, goals, actions, wishes, and memories. I use this month to create a plan for the new year. Now this plan is fluid and isn’t a plan that can not be altered. We all know that the best laid plans often don’t get followed.

My plans include goals and milestones. Milestones in my personal life as well as in my business life. One of the goals that I would love to get back to is the ease of the open invitation. And the ability to have people around my table. I have lived in a world of comparison. And y’all I am not proud of that. I would love to pretend that I haven’t but with social media it is so very easy. It is also easy to start believing that you aren’t enough. Which is ridiculous. We don’t see behind the scenes. The clutter, the mess, the stress of the everyday. All of that is hidden and tucked away into a place that we pretend isn’t there. This year it is going away. I am going to work on not living in the world of comparison. For me this will include diving into books that I need to read daily. Devotions that I will fill my heart. And peace… peace for what I am  and the life we have built.

So every year I choose a watchword. A word that above all else is something that I fall back on when I am scared. That I look towards when the world looks gloomy. This year I stumbled upon my watchword. I am actually starting to believe that stumbling upon things isn’t actually by accident. There was a reason these words came into my path.

.

By All Means.

.

By all means is my watchword (well watch phrase) this year. This year I read Year of Yes by Shonda Rhimes. I highly recommend you pick it up but when you do buy the audio book because listening to her read it seems to transform you into her world even deeper. I thought to myself throughout the book, I need to do this… I need a year of yes. Well by all means <3 Yes.

I have worked harder this year than I have in years past. And you know what I am still growing. I am in a growth mindset. And how do you stay in that mindset… by doing whatever you can, whenever you can. By all means… necessary. By all means necessary to get the job done. By all means available to me to learn what I can to be better. By all means I will use what is available around me to grow. By all means.

.

So as I look back on 2017 I will enjoy the memories and moments. I will continue to document our days.

.

My 2017 watchword was courage.

 My 2016 watchword was adventure.
