You’ll always miss 100% of the shots you don’t take. ~Wayne Gretzky

I can’t remember when I first heard that quote. It is so very true. I love trying new things. I have learned that I don’t really mind if I fail. When I look back on when I started photography I know I was bad. I made rookie mistakes. I still make mistakes. But I am learning. I am constantly growing. I fear the day that I can’t see growth in my work.

I have wanted to try video for a while. My camera is excellent for video (I love my new camera!). So why not try. I have loved many other photographers promos or showreels. I love watching family videos and I think I am semi addicted to youtube. So when my favorite workshop set out to show how to do videos I was hooked.
My goal was to do 30 days of video. I started in February. I have footage of everything. A lot of it didn’t make sense or was way too shakey. I don’t know how much footage I had to scrap because it was vertical (yep, I like vertical portraits!). But I worked at it and just had some fun with it. Somewhere in the middle of the month I found the perfect song to go with my video. I then could finally see it 😉 It was like the light bulb not only was on but got brighter.

When I start something new I usually keep it to myself. I will tell one or two people close to me. But I am generally nervous to share with others. Well, my wonderful friend told me it wasn’t awful! (Actually she said she loved it!)
So I proudly show my first silly video of some of my very favorite people.

I am going to take note that in a few months I will most likely look back on all the things I did wrong and see how far I have grown 😉
